As a member of Psi Chapter Dallas, Texas, Berry served as Dean of Intake, Vice President and President.  She has been awarded as an Outstanding Chapter President on both the Regional and National levels.  On the Regional level she served as the Assistant Southwestern Regional Director and Regional Director as a national board member, also being recognized as an Outstanding Regional Director.  She has the distinguished honor of being selected the 1999 National Soror of the Year, the highest honor bestowed upon a Soror within Iota Phi Lambda.

Mrs. Berry, is active as a volunteer and serves on several boards in the Dallas and DeSoto areas.  She currently is a board member for DeSoto Dining & Dialogue, Genesis Women Shelter and Support Alliance Board and DeSoto Food Bank.  Her volunteer commitments extend to the DeSoto Chamber of Commerce, the Texas Women’s Foundation and Texas Senator Royce West’s Conrad Intern Program.

Professionally, she has worked in the private and non-profit sectors as both a manager and director.  Most recently she worked for the city of Desoto as the Victim Advocate for family and victim violence. She was the 2016 Civilian of the Year for the DeSoto Police Department.

She has a M. Ed from the University of Texas @ Arlington; B.A.A.S from the University of North Texas @ Denton; certificates in Mid-level Management from El Centro Jr. College Dallas and Non-Profit Leadership Management from Southern Methodist University – SMU Dallas in conjunction with the Center for Non-Profit Management Dallas.  Mrs. Berry is also a 2005 graduate and former board chair for Leadership Southwest.

Her daughter, Shamondra Berry Denson is her Soror from Psi Chapter’s 1999 Legacy Line of 10 daughters of Sorors.  Along with having a son and being married to her high school sweetie, Monte Berry, Iota is an integral part of her life of service along with her spiritual faith walk.
