bhm-2019-iotaFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

IOTA PHI LAMBDA SORORITY, INC. CELEBRATES 2019 BLACK HISTORY MONTH BY PROMOTING ITS OWN HISTORY THROUGH: IOTA’S HERSTORY CAMPAIGN
WASHINGTON, D.C.- February 1, 2019– Today is the first day of Black History Month in the United States.  The National Executive Board of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. welcomes its members and friends of Iota to this years’ IOTA experience.

Every year during this month there is a heightened emphasis on promoting historical and present-day contributions by individuals of African American ancestry and organizations supporting efforts to promote cultural awareness of African Americans in the United States and globally.  Let it not be forgotten.

Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., the first African American business and professional women’s organization and sisterhood founded June 1, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois by seven founders lead by Mrs. Lola Mercedes Parker, founder and President Emeritus, will celebrate this year’s Black History Month through its IOTA HerStory campaign.
The IOTA HerStory campaign encourages Iota members nationally to promote, through local or regional workshops, events, media announcements, and social media outlets, information on IOTA’s history and its impact to communities within the United States and globally over the past 89 plus years.

Under the direction of its 22nd National President, Mrs. Stephanie Dilworth, IOTA aims to promote its rich history as business and professional women making productive changes within its target communities.    “As we prepare to celebrate 90 years on June 1, 2019, IOTA members are excited to promote our history as we Look Back, Look Forward, Imagining…,” stated President Dilworth.
