Dorothy White

As a member of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., our 23rd National President, Mrs. Dorothy White has served in many capacities.   On the local, she has served as Dean of Intake, Scholarship Chair, Journalist, 1st Vice President and President and on all committees.   On the Regional level, she has served as Asst. Regional Director, Rules Chair, and Evaluations chair and as a member of the Awards Committee. On the National level, she has served as Central Regional Director, Coordinator for the National Cookbook Project, National Representative for the Children’s Defense Fund and the Soror of the Year Project. She also chaired the Special 75th Celebration at Nationals.

She is a retired educator with the Chicago Board of Education, retiring after 34 years as an Elementary Teacher at Bouchet Elementary Math and Science Academy, teaching First Grade, Kindergarten and Prekindergarten. At Bouchet, she served on many committees, including the Curriculum Committee, the Professional Problems Committee, the Quality Review Team, the Quest Proposal and Planning Team, and the Primary Thematic Program Development Committee.

Mrs. White has a B.S. in Sociology from Jackson State University and a M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education from National Louis University. She is a member of Trinity United Church of Christ where she serves with the Stewardship Ministry and the Chicago Retired Teachers Association.

She is the mother of two children, Sandra D. Thomas, Felix N. White and the grandmother of 3, Lauren, Jamon and Michelle.
